Does your dog love the cold or does he turn away when he smells the cold? Or would he rather cuddle up on his bed or on your cosy sofa. Many dog owners have their routine of walking the dog and believe that because their pets have a fur coat, they can tolerate the cold better than humans. This isn’t always the case. Like us, our fur-coated creatures are used to the warmth of central heating and the sudden cold weather can be as hard on them as it is on us. One thing for sure: it’s a time when our four legged friends need a little extra care. If it’s too cold for you to stand at the door without your coat, it’s probably too cold for your dog too, so keep an eye on him closely when he’s outdoors. If you notice your dog whining, shivering or appearing anxious, then it’s time to bring him in.

As we approach Christmas we are reminded that Christmas is for sharing and Christmas is for giving. But please don’t forget those “little Creatures” who make our lives so worthwhile, give unconditionally welcome us every day, and give to us all year round. And whilst they see you busying yourself for everyone else, remember they deserve treats themselves!

And we can help you with that…. As pet lovers ourselves we have all the answers to make your precious pets feel exactly that… precious! So whether yours is a cat, dog, fish or furry, we have lots in store to make you and your pet’s Christmas cracking!!

And don’t forget SANTA PAWS never forgets… (But might need some prompting sometimes!!)

Come and join us and see for yourselves, but a taster of what’s in store might be to choose from a selection of Christmas Stockings filled with toys, turkey bites and cheese biscuits. Or rawhide candy cones, pigs in blankets or even munchy chews. And for your feline friends, cat stockings with Whiskers treats or catnip toys to tempt your cat into play, or even rest if he gets too much for you!

And not forgetting our little furry friends, we have stockings for rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs and milk drops too, all ready to go and make sure your pets are precious every day and particularly so at Christmas.

As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder our feathered friends find it more and more difficult to keep warm and dry and get food in their belly. So why not follow the Christmas Ads and if you’ve nothing else on Christmas day put out a mince pie. Not as daft as you think, the RSPB agree with us, they think it’s a good idea, lots of fruit, nuts, fat and goodness and most of all remember to make sure you have clean water, not frozen to help wash it all down!
